Presidents Report

Once again it is time to report and to instigate support from the community to ask our councillors and council to spend some of the rates raised from our area to be spent in Culburra Beach.

The first thing is when will Culburra Road be repaired from Coonemia Road corner up the hill to the speed sign that changes the speed from 80 kph to 100 kph, this section was never finished when the rest of Culburra Road was resealed..

Shoalhaven council sent out a media release about receiving 4.2 million dollars from the federal government black spot funds, with not a dollar ear marked to be spent in the Culburra Beach area. You can contact the General Manager via email ( council@ and quote Council’s reference 28099E( D15/273464) or Transport Engineer Mr Brett Williams at Council on 02 44293142.

Council wish to have feedback but they have limited the time to Friday 16th October 2015 so I suggest that residents and ratepayers need to act quickly or demand a longer period for feedback.

However to more pressing problems for our area what is Council’s maintenance crews doing about the beach access points at the carpark at Ocean St and Crookhaven carpark behind the Caravan Park and many other access points like at the end of Park Row and Mowbray Rd to name a few.

There has still not been an answer to the drainage problems at the B.M.X. track and none of the childrens concerns have been addressed

On a brighter note the shed for Culburra Beach and Districts Men’s Shed is constructed to lock up stage and we are receiving quotes for internal frames for the internal rooms that are required . However the most important rooms to get the occupancy certificate are the toilets need to be completed , once we have that there will be a meeting for members and a steering committee will need to elected to drive the shed further towards completion. Another project has started in our area is the fundraising for our very own skate park for our children and our grandchildren; this is a project that our community needs to get behind for both the safety and amenity of the children

There are many more things that are required in our area such as the dredging of the Crookhaven River and the access to the ocean at the mouth which is silting up severely and the question of what is National Parks doing for the amenity of Lake Wollumboola for the community as they control the bed of the lake, as it has been a spectacular tourist attraction in the past for both skiers and sailing both wind surfers and sail boats.

The Progress association and the CCB meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7.00pm ( except January ) in the Banksia Hall, so come along to our meetings and help tell Council we want more for our Buck!
